Online Collection

The purpose of this portion of the Germantown Historical Society’s website is to allow the public to search, view and order images available in our archives, and access information associated with them. Images of objects in our museum will be available shortly.

To use this portion of the website, there are several options.

To begin, <click here>. You will be directed to the “Keyword Search” page. Enter one or more search terms related to Germantown businesses, personal names, locations etc should you know any, and then click “Search.” You will then be given a list of results. We have found that this is generally one of the most effective search tools available on this portion of the website.

You may also search by using the “Click and Search” button found on the “Keyword Search” page. You can search by alphabetical listing your topic of interest, or title. For example, should you be interested in all photographs of or associated with Germantown Avenue, click on “G” under the “Title” field and then view the results. Note: should you use the “Click and Search” function and then click and search under “Creator,” search by first name. For example, if you are searching for “J. Mitchell Elliot,” search under J rather than E.

For more detailed searches, use the “Advanced Search” button.

For a sampling of materials, click on “Random Images.”

For further information, click on “Help.”
